Midwest Mountain Bike Festival
Featuring-
The Kona Bicycles Advocacy Summit
April 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2006.
The Midwest Mountain Bike Festival is an annual event that draws mountain bikers, trail builders, and trail building advocates from 14 states throughout the Midwest.
The purpose of the Festival is to provide a weekend for mountain bike trail enthusiasts and advocates. From the classes and seminars at the Advocacy Summit on Friday, and fun at the Saturday Festival, through to Sunday's 43-mile epic ride to test your endurance.
Friday – The Kona Bicycles Advocacy Summit: Friday is all about trails and advocacy. We’ll have informative seminars for trail stewards, club leaders, trail crew leaders, and trail designers. We’ll also have the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) Trail Care Crew for a special trail-building school, and a presentation of IMBA and all of their national and international programs.
Saturday The Festival – Saturday is the fun day. All day long we’ll have a festival atmosphere with a pig roast, great New Belgium Brewing beer, demos from several major bike companies, special skills contests and organized rides on all of the trails, a huge raffle, and music provided by 5 local bands. Saturday night will feature night rides on local trails, lights will be available for use at the event!
Sunday – Sunday’s big event is the organized epic ride. We’ll cover 3 different trail systems, every kind of surface you can ride a bike on, and over 40 miles of riding. We’ll have aid stations along the way to fuel-up, as well as some optional stops at local watering holes for refreshments. The more the merrier. Shorter ride options can be done as well. There will be turn-offs.
